Termination, Reduction, Suspension, or Withdrawal of
Halal Certification

When non-compliance with halal certification requirements is confirmed whether through audits, inspections, or other means, Halal Food Safety UK (HFS) assesses the situation and determines the appropriate course of action, which may include:

a) Continuing halal certification under revised conditions (e.g., increased audit frequency or enhanced inspections).
b) Reducing the scope of certification by excluding specific non-compliant product variants.
c) Temporarily suspending certification pending corrective action by the client.
d) Withdrawing halal certification entirely.

If certification is terminated, suspended, or withdrawn at the client’s request, HFS will:

  • Amend all formal certification documents accordingly.
  • Update public records (e.g., certification directories) to remove references to the client and their products.
  • Revoke authorization to use the HFS halal logo for the affected products.

In cases where certification scope is reduced, HFS will revise, and issue updated documentation and public information to clearly reflect the changes to the client.

  • During suspension, the Certification Manager is responsible for
  • Specifying the required corrective actions to resolve the suspension in accordance with HFS procedures.
  • Communicating any additional obligations imposed by the certification process.

The Certification Manager, with the necessary expertise to manage suspensions, may consult the Managing Director if additional support is required.

  • Upon reinstatement of certification, HFS will:
Update all official documentation, public records, and logo authorizations to reflect the reinstated halal status.
  • If reinstatement involves a reduced certification scope, ensure that all relevant updates and communications clearly convey this to the client.
